I Believe God’s Word, Period!

Lately, I’ve been inundated with news about the abundance of nanoplastics and forever chemicals in almost everything, even organic foods. For many years, I have been careful to eat a well-balanced, clean diet: consuming organic whole foods and steering clear of anything that includes parabens or phthalates on the label.

I love statistics and data, and the more information I consumed on this topic, the more I began to consider the hopelessness of the situation. Yep, fear began to search for an entryway as I thought about the reality that basically everything was contaminated: wild-caught fish, organic foods, products labeled paraben-free and phthalate-free, tap water, and even the filters used for purifying drinking water. It’s all contaminated!

As I pondered the futility of my efforts to eat clean, the Holy Spirit brought three scriptures to my mind:

  • Isaiah 53:5 NABRE “But he was pierced for our sins, crushed for our iniquity. He bore the punishment that makes us whole, by his wounds we were healed.”
  • Galatians 4:7 ERV “Now,… You are God’s children, and you will receive everything he promised his children.”
  • Mark 16 17 & 18 NIV “These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe… if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

When we live as mere men, and view circumstances through the lenses of our sinful humanity, hope diminishes. When we consider that we are children of the most high God and view circumstances through the lenses of our Kingdom position, hope multiplies.

Are you living with diminishing hope, or multiplying hope? Your belief system and your adherence to it are directly correlated.

I believe that healing and other supernatural activities noted in the Bible are possible today. I believe that God’s promises to believers in the Bible, from cover to cover, are still applicable today. I believe that God is no respecter of persons and that He never changes.

The same God who healed the blind, lame, and others who were sick, and who raised the dead is the same God that I call Abba Father today.

I believe Christ’s words to his followers in John 14:11-13, “Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it.”

I believe God’s word. That every scripture and every verse is true, and I trust the Holy Spirit who has promised to make it clear to me. I believe that God sees my heart and knows that my desire is to please and glorify Him and that ‘He doesn’t give us stones when we ask for bread’. I also believe that our ability to receive from God is limited mainly by our ability to ask. Asking is a key.

I believe that for too long some Christians have been living substandard lives, because they have made God’s word powerless by their attempts to logicize it, as a result of their inability to fully wrap their human minds around verses like:

  • Luke 10:19, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you”, a reminder of the authority that we have as Christ’s followers.
  • John 16:23 NASB2020, “And on that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you”, which spoke of today, after Jesus rose and ascended and gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to His followers. The Holy Spirit whose role in our lives includes guiding, teaching, interceding for, comforting, giving spiritual gifts to, convicting, and empowering.

Matthew 17:20 is such a powerful reminder of the fact that faith overcomes and displaces fear. It says, “…For truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you” NASB2020. After the disciples failed to heal the demon-possessed boy, Jesus was essentially telling them that even a tiny amount of faith can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. This verse reminds me to keep my focus on Jesus, the author, initiator, and perfector of my faith, with whom NOTHING is impossible. Faith shields your armor, blocking all entryways to fear. Faith is a key.

Today, I invite you to stop staring at the mountain in front of you with your mouth hanging open in complete disbelief of its magnitude and, perhaps, its sudden appearance, and speak to it. Your words can tear it down.

I believe that God is sovereign, and ultimately, His plans will be fulfilled as stated in Proverbs 19:21 NABRE, “Many are the plans of the human heart, but it is the decision of the Lord that endures.”

I also believe that God is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, and immutable, Numbers 23:19a NABRE, “God is not a man, that He would lie, nor a son of man, that He would change His mind….”

I believe that we have been called to ‘know Christ’ and then to introduce Him to others, Matthew 28:18. That we have been given authority to, “…Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons…’ Matthew 10:8 NASB2020

I believe that the “Christ in me is the hope of Glory.” Hope for the entire world. As Christ Followers we carry hope for every single person on the globe. Colossians 1:27

I believe, in accordance with Colossians 2:9, that within Christ who lives in me “dwells the fullness of the Godhead.” Therefore God lives in me.

When I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior, He “made his home in my heart”, Ephesians 3:17a, the very core of who I am. Christ in me, radically and supernaturally transforms who I am, making me a new creation.

“For (when we accepted Christ) we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was”, Romans 6:4-5.

Galatians 5:25, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. If the Holy Spirit is living in us, let us be led by, (and empowered by) Him in all things”.

I refuse to try to rationalize what God’s word says so that it can align with my human limitations. Instead, I will live in the Spirit, and depend completely upon the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to fulfill God’s supernatural/divine purpose for my life.

I invite you to join me in believing God’s words, period! Choose to trust God and take Him at His word. Believe that He means what He said in His word, that He is not a man that He should lie, and that His words are yes and amen.

I invite you to prayerfully ponder this verse that we have been contemplating in my Sunday morning gatherings.

Col.1.15-17.GW says, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. He created all things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible. Whether they are kings or lords, rulers or powers— everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything and holds everything together.” This scripture reminds me that the all-powerful creator and sustainer of the universe dwells within me, empowering and enabling me to fulfill all that he has called me to.

Heavenly Father, I pray for each person reading this today, that we will understand the mystery of the fact that you, the God Almighty, the creator and sustainer of the universe and all that exists, dwell within those of us who have made you Lord of our lives.

Make clear to us the magnitude of the impact of that truth. Give us eyes to see ourselves as the giants we are in You.

Teach us to trust you enough to relinquish control to you and open our understanding to the truth that we are stronger, more powerful, wiser, more creative, and more capable when we walk in the center of your will than when we try to accomplish our plans by our abilities.

Remind us daily that we were created for your glory and that when we accept your perfect love, it drives out all of our fear and liberates us to live abundant, victorious lives.

Today, I pray that each person praying this prayer will be transformed by the renewing of our minds as we choose to believe, and live in alignment with Your Holy Word, period. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!

“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]– To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen (so be it).” Ephesians 3:20 AMPC.

If you’ve never asked Jesus to be Lord of your life, please pause and pray the prayer below. ‘Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me your child. I commit my life to you today, and ask you to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, amen.’
