Do You See What He Sees!

I’ve always been intrigued by the lives and adventures of stalwarts like Moses, Joseph, Elisha, Job and Joshua. I’ve read and reread their stories in the Bible, and I’ve even given talks about some of their quest. Recently the Holy Spirit gave me some new insights into Job’s journey.

Job is a clear demonstration of the fact that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours. Job’s story to the natural eyes is a grave tragedy of monumental loss, that eventually gets turned around by God’s mercy. In the realm of the Spirit, through spiritual sight, we see that it’s a story of triumph from start to finish.

Firstly, God actually presented Job to the devil for consideration. Secondly, God placed limits on the devil’s power to touch Job’s life, and thirdly God had already mapped out Job’s journey, and determined that his end would be greater than the beginning.

Spiritual sight is seeing as Christ sees, from His vantage point, and includes visions or dreams as noted in Acts 2:17, the opening of the eyes of your understanding/ heart/ mind as noted in Ephesians 1:18 or hearing the voice of God, or that of a messenger of God as Gideon did in Judges 6.

I recall chatting with a friend on a Zoom call while waiting for the other participants to arrive. After a short while she anounced that we were going to get started, and I thought, but it’s just us. Only after she started to greet the others did I notice that my view settings had limited my vision. The instant that I adjusted the settings, I noticed that there were at least 9 other participants in the room. When our settings are on natural, we see only what’s in front of us. Spiritual sight allows us a much more expansive view of things.

I believe that the level or depth of your sight isn’t the key focus, but that you choose to use the gift that God gave to you. As in the days of Moses or Joseph or Daniel, sight provides a gimps into a realm that is not accessible by the natural eyes: the spirit realm (the upper realm).

Spiritual sight can provide knowledge, wisdom, comfort and encouragement, directives, warnings etc.

The day that I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, I was in my sitting room conversing with God, and I clearly heard Him say, ‘…this is not unto death, but will bring me glory.’ In that instant, God also gave me a vision of the ordeal that I was to endure.

Throughout my journey of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation that ‘sight’ kept me going. At times I even saw an angel present with me, and this gave me the peaceful reassurance that all was well.

Here are example of what I refer to as spiritual sight: Through spiritual sight, some have seen the dreams of others and provided interpretations of those dreams. Some have seen the outcome of elections, and others have been supernaturally taken into hospital rooms where they prayed for the sick and saw them recover.

Sight provides comfort and encouragement. Job received sight from the word of God and throughout his turmoil he was able to quote scriptures to his friends and stand firmly on the understanding that he received from the word.

Sight provides vision beyond what is possible with the natural senses. While in Dothan which is about 5950 miles from Syria, Elijah listened in on the King of Syria, as he plotted to ambush the Israelites. Elisha warned the king and saved Israel on more than one occasion (2 Kings 6).

Later in verse 17, when the Syrian king attacked Elisha in retaliation. Elisha’s servant became afraid and Elisha prayed for him and said, “LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha”.

Sight provides glimpses into the future. At Ziklag David asked God whether he would be victorious if he pursued the Amalekites. God gave his knowledge of the future and responded, “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.” David obeyed and trusted his spiritual sight. He pursued the Amalekites, destroyed all of them and recovered everything that was stolen (1 Samuel).

Sight provides directives. Saul simultaneously received spiritual sight and because blinded while on the road to Damascus. He saw Jesus, who instructed him to, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do,” (Acts 9).

Are you seeing what He, our Heavenly Father sees, or are you limiting yourself to seeing things in the natural. Spiritual Sight comes through being led by the Holy Spirit, as Galatians 5:16 says, “Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

Pray and ask our Heavenly Father to open your eyes to happenings in the realms beyond the natural. He has called you to live above. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your life, trust his leading instead of gratifying self, and He will give you spiritual sight.

If you’ve never asked Christ to be Lord of your life please pray this prayer with me. Heavenly Father I am sorry for my sin please forgive me, cleanse me and make me your child. Give me spiritual sight so that I might see things from your perspective. I commit my life to you today. Amen.
