I Challenge You to Pray.

This week, I’ve been led by the Holy Spirit to study the lives of some of our fathers and mothers in the faith, including the Apostle Paul, Matthew, the Apostle, Smith Wigglesworth, and Maria Woodworth-Etta. While in prayer, the Holy Spirit impressed upon me to challenge each person who would read this, to journey through a ‘One Week Prayer Experience’. So, as I’ve learned to do, I am being obedient. I’m not second-guessing or overthinking; just being obedient. The choice to participate is completely yours.

I’ve spent time praying, as led by the Holy Spirit, that this experience/encounter will be life-changing for each person who participates. Through this single-week experience, some of us will also be instrumental in eliciting life-change in those around us.

Prayer is so powerful that Satan tried to distract Jesus as he prayed in the desert. Likewise, he will likely attempt to prevent us from completing this challenge. God’s word in 1 Peter 5:8 instructs us to “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

As you pray this week, be aware that your enemy is on the prowl. I’m not telling you to be afraid of him as he prowls, just to be alert so that you recognize Satan’s attempts to derail you, as Jesus did in Matthew 16: 21-23, when “…He turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan…”

I encourage you to remain focused on your why: the reason God brought to your mind and heart when He prompted you to say yes to this journey. It may be that God will use this to launch you into a new area of ministry or to expand your current ministry. That your life will move in an entirely new direction after this week. That you will receive divine healing. That new opportunities will open up, for you to step into God’s abundance. That you will receive answers to prayers that have been on your heart for some time.

For someone reading this, God will halt an unjust judgment against you that Satan has been using to tie up your time, money, and focus in an attempt to thwart God’s plan for your life. Some of us will receive miracles that will be baffling both to us and those around us. Be expectant!

What I am most excited about, though, is that each individual who embarks on this journey will experience a greater level of intimacy with God and an increased sensitivity to hearing His voice and discerning His will and directives.

Here are a few reminders of some of the benefits of spending time in prayer:

  1. James 4:8 – “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” Through prayer and spending time in God’s presence, we develop a deeper, personal relationship with our Abba Father, allowing us to connect with Him more intimately. We can, therefore, hear His voice more clearly and discern His plans for us with greater clarity.
  2. Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Prayer brings peace that we can’t wrap our minds around, helping to quiet our anxiety-ridden hearts and minds. Allowing us to focus on what is important.
  3. Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” In prayer, we seek God’s wisdom and direction, helping us make decisions aligned with His will.
  4. Jeremiah 33:3 – “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Prayer grants us an audience with God, where we can receive spiritual sight from God Almighty, our Abba Father, who is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent, and who loves us unconditionally.
  5. Matthew 26:41 – “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Spending time in prayer strengthens us and we are empowered to overcome the enemy of our souls.
  6. James 5:16 – “Therefore confess your sins … and pray … so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Through prayer, we can ask for and receive healing and restoration, both physically and spiritually, as declared in Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2: 24. When we, as children of God, pray, God releases power that brings answers and changes situations.

Be assured that God sees you and will reward you when you pray. Here is a bit of wisdom from Matthew‬ ‭6:6‭-‬8, “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

How to Pray?

  1. Schedule a time
  2. Find an appropriate place
  3. PRAY:
    Praise & Confess your sin,
    Read the Word,
    Ask with thanksgiving,
Yield to the promptings of the HS.

Abba Father, I pray for your children who have committed to completing this prayer challenge. I thank you that today, they stand in the center of Your will, and will fulfill your purpose and calling for their lives

May they each have a divine encounter with you this week, like they never have had before. May they grow in intimacy with you and truly experience and accept your unconditional love.

I declare and thank you that no weapon formed against them will prosper. That no sickness or disease can reside in their body. That they walk under the covering and anointing of the Holy Spirit who lives within them and divinely empowers them.

Today they are abundantly blessed with a blessing that spills over unto all those around them. Your divine favor surrounds them. Your divine wisdom enables them to solve every problem that they encounter.

Lord, I stand on Your word and declare that we are new creations who have been set free from the law of sin and death. That the life-giving power of Christ indwells them and quickens their body. That they have authority over ALL of Satan’s power so that nothing can harm them.

As they spend time in prayer in your presence, meet each one at the very point of their need and answer the request that you placed on each heart. May they each encounter your supernatural power as they have never before experienced it. Lord, you orchestrated this week of intersession, so do what you have already purposed to do in and through each participant. In your mighty name, I pray. Amen!

If you’ve never asked Jesus to be Lord of your life, please pause and pray the prayer below. You need an encounter with the God we pray to so that you can experience all that He has for you this week.
‘Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me your child. I commit my life to you today, and ask you to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, amen.’
