I Am Loved By God

Have you ever had someone tell you a lie with such a straight face that you believed them? An expert liar is generally convincing because they use the truth to support their lies, it’s out of character for that person to lie to you, or they stick to their guns so vehemently, that you are left questioning what is actually true.

This past week I’ve been keenly aware of Satan’s device of speaking lies to my mind. He has used each of the tactics above in various combinations, and sometimes with the help of people around me. God has used these instances to teach me to better discern His voice so that I could recognize the voice of the liar.

One of my favorite recognitions is that Satan’s voice is usually accusatory, while my heavenly Father’s voice is always loving. God accusing us, is counterproductive to Him loving us enough to sacrifice His only Son for us. So, accusations don’t come from God, but from ‘the accuser of the brethren’.

Someone reading this may be questioning whether it is true that Satan can speak to believers, so I will give a couple examples. Consider Luke 22:3 where Luke recounts that, “… Satan entered the heart of Judas… one of the twelve apostles.” Let’s also look at Acts 5:3, where Peter asks Ananias, “… how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied….”

In both of the examples, Satan spoke to the individual’s heart. Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he” indicates that thinking is associated with the heart, so the mind is sometimes referred to as the heart. Hope that’s clear.

The devil tries to persuade us to believe lies, and those lies often cause us to doubt God’s word and lead to fear. He has had so much practice that he has learned strategies that make the lies convincing. Knowing who we are, whose we are, and being knowledgeable of the enemy’s strategies can help us to recognize his lies dressed up as truth, and reject them whether he yells, or whispers them to us.

Along with knowing God’s words, it’s important to understand that He loves us. Yes, our Abba Father loves us unconditionally: there is nothing that can separate you from God’s love, and that unconditional love drives fear away. Do you get that? His love for us is limitless, and His love drives out ALL fear, even those caused by Satan’s lies.

What lies has the enemy been telling you lately?

As I have watched God open doors of blessing in my life lately, the devil has whispered, “that’s not God, it’s just a coincidence, it won’t last, the full promise won’t ever come to pass….” I am then tempted to jump in and make things happen, like I know I could. But that would be disobedience to God who has asked me to be still and allow Him to do what He has promised.

Does this sound familiar to you? Have you been hearing similar lies? The devil has the power to influence our lives to the extent that we are ignorant of who we are, and the authority we have. He can blab all he wants, but we have to listen and act on his blabbing for it to become effective.

God’s word tells us to, ‘resist, (counteract to repel) the devil and he will run away’, James 4:7. Resisting is an offensive action, it’s not just sitting in fear trying to block him when he attacks, it involves setting up an offensive team, and establishing offensive moves, so that you make advances on the enemy even before he has the chance to attack.

Some of my offensive moves include prayer and spending time building my relationship with God and fellow believers, reading and studying God’s word, listening to sermons based on the word of God, and sharing my testimonies of God’s goodness in my life.

Accepting the vast magnitude of God’s love for me is another offensive move. When the devil says I have to be afraid of trusting God fully, I remind myself of the fact that God loves me more than I could even fathom. His love for me will never change, because I didn’t do anything to earn it. He lovingly formed me in my mother’s womb, and loves me as His creation.

When I’m on the offensive God allows me to see tricks, traps, and setups before they happen, so I am prepared to defeat the father of lies.

Do you have offensive moves in place?  If not, there is no time like the present to establish a plan and to ask God to help you to see into the spirit realm, like the prophet in 2 Kings 6, who ‘saw’ and said, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

Elisha understood the importance of spiritual sight and the detriment of blindness. He prayed for the Lord to open the eyes of his servant, “And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire “

Later on in vs 18, when Elisha saw ‘the enemy’ coming toward him, he asked God to blind their eyes. This allowed him to lead them straight to Samaria where they were at the mercy of the King of Syria.

Let me summarize this post by praying a prayer over you, that the Apostle Paul prayed over the Ephesian church. I ask please that you pause if you are multitasking and be fully present as I pray the Word of God over you.

“I pray that God our heavenly father would unveil within you the unlimited riches of his glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with his divine might and explosive power.

Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.

Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!

Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.

Now we offer up to God all the glorious praise that rises from every church in every generation through Jesus Christ—and all that will yet be manifest through time and eternity. Amen!” Ephesians 3:16-21 TPT

If you’ve never asked Christ to be Lord of your life please pray this prayer. Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me your child. I commit my life to you today. Amen.
