Break Free of Scarcity and Lack (Enjoy God’s Blessing of Abundance).

To the natural mind some of the scriptures in the Bible seem nonsensical, even laughable, but the more I’ve read them with the understanding of the Holy Spirit, the more sense they make.

One that immediately comes to mind is ‘Give and it will be given unto you’. In the natural, this doesn’t make sense, but in the spirit realm, it is a truth for believers.

The answer to increasing wealth is to give (away). Here’s an example of that scripture in action. In obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I recently gave away a blow dryer worth close to $99.00 US. Less than one week later, I received (at no cost to me) the upgraded version of the same blow dryer that is worth over $200.00 US.

To make room for blessings in our lives we sometimes have to clear out the clutter that’s not serving us any purpose. Are you guilty of holding on to things that don’t align with your purpose?

The enemy often uses the fear of loss to cause us to hold on to things we should be giving up or giving away. His trick is to cause us to believe that if we give it away, we’ll need it later on and we won’t have it. That my friends is one of the biggest deceptions that come straight from the pit of hell. It’s what I call a poverty mindset and it is in direct contradiction to God’s word.

God promised to supply ALL of your needs, and He doesn’t lie. So if you ever need ‘that thing’ that you’re holding on to, He will provide it.

I want to challenge each of us to take a leap of faith. As we contemplate Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, let us respond in obedience to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and bless someone who comes across our pathway, with something that we’ve been holding on to, that’s not serving our God-given purpose.

Perhaps it’s a dress you purchased but never wore because it doesn’t fit the way you like, perhaps it’s a pair of shoes that aren’t quite your style, or a piece of furniture or jewelry. Whatever it is, I challenge you to trust your Abba Father’s word and give, and watch Him, ‘pour you out a blessing that you won’t have room to contain’. Then, I encourage you to share the testimony to encourage someone else.

Greed and miserliness in our lives, often block the blessings of God and cause us to live in scarcity and lack.

Have you been praying for a blessing and your prayers seem to be falling on deaf ears? I want you to pause, contemplate, and answer this question honestly. What is your motive? Is your goal to amass wealth to ‘show off’ on those around you, or something similar? Remember, God looks at our hearts.

Consider Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest man in the Bible. In 1 Kings 3:5, God offered Solomon ‘whatever he wanted’, and in verse 9, Solomon asked for wisdom, not just to run circles around his peers, but wisdom to lead God’s people. When God looked at Solomon’s heart, do you think God would have said anything but yes? Not only did God say yes to his request for wisdom, but God also granted him opulence.

I don’t consider myself to be wealthy, but I lack nothing. There is nothing that I need that my Abba doesn’t provide. Some time ago, God promised me, during one of my early morning prayer times, that He would supply everything I would ever need, and He does just that.

First, He had to take me on a journey to renew my mind and teach me to trust Him, so that I could get to the point where obedience to His voice has become easier, even when it’s a big ask or directive. It began in small steps and over time He repeatedly proved Himself faithful.

I saw my mom live that way. I remember giving her things that I thought she needed, and when I asked her about them, she had given them to someone in need, in obedience to her Abba Father’s instruction. Initially, it irritated me, but as Abba worked on my heart, and I matured in trusting and obeying Him, I stopped wrestling with it. Like Solomon, my mom walked in her purpose, being God’s hand extended to numerous people. In addition to giving, she also volunteered her time.

Someone reading this has been trying really hard to be more generous, but can’t seem to succeed. You recognize the attitudes of greed and miserliness in your life, but can’t seem to shake them.

One thing I absolutely love about being a Christ follower is that it’s not about me trying to be good enough to earn anything or accomplish anything. Every promise in the Bible is mine, from the moment I became a Christian. I immediately gained all of the access associated with sonship (daughterhood 😊).

One of my favorite scriptures that speaks to this truth is Philippians 2:13, “For God is at work within you, helping you want to obey him, and then helping you do what he wants.” Do you get that? It’s not about you fighting to do and failing at it, it’s about Him giving you the desire and enabling you to do it.

Here are some more of my favorites that I pray will impact your life. I have these pinned to the home screen of my phone so that I can read them repeatedly throughout the day:

  1. “Now you understand that I have imparted to you all my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm you as you walk in this authority.” Luke 10:19 (TPT)
  2. “And my God will meet all your (my) needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
  3. “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Psalm 34:10-12 (NKJV)
  4. “The people who know their God shall be strong and shall do great exploits.” Daniel 11:32 (NKJV)
  5. “I have been crucified with Christ: and I myself no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And the real life I now have within this body is a result of my trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 (TLB)
  6. “Does the Spirit of God who brought Jesus back to life live in you? Then the one who brought Christ back to life will also make your mortal bodies alive by his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11

What is the significance to your life, of each of the verses above? Do any apply to your current situation? Ask the Holy Spirit to help them to sink into your heart so that you can live them daily.

Let me pray the words of some of the scriptures above over you.
Abba Father I pray for Your children reading this today, that they will grasp the truth, that You are at work within them, helping them to want to obey You, and then helping them to fulfill Your purpose for their lives. Help them to embrace and daily live ALL of the benefits and responsibilities associated with being your children.

Remind them that You promised to meet all of their needs, according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus, and teach them to trust that You are good.

Give them hearts that seek You, and demonstrate to them that those who seek You, Lord, shall not lack any good thing, and will also be strong and do great exploits.

Help them to embrace their true reality as sons and daughters of the most high God. May they daily live out the fact that You gave them the same authority that You have: to trample over Satan’s kingdom. That, with that authority, they can trample upon EVERY demon before them and overcome EVERY power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will be able to harm them as they walk in this God-given authority. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you’ve never asked Christ to be Lord of your life, please pray this prayer. ‘Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin please forgive me, cleanse me, and make me your child. I commit my life to you today and ask you to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, amen.’
