The Law of Averages

Recently as I sat relaxing after a long day, the term average came to mind. The Law of Averages says that the more you repeat an event the greater your chances of a successful outcome. That’s logical, but it’s for the average. If you’re a child of God, you are not average, and the law of averages does not apply to you.

This is an earthly law or principle, like all the others that you have been redeemed from. Galatians 3:13-14 says, “Christ paid the full price to set us free from the curse of the law. He absorbed it completely as he became a curse in our place…Jesus, our Messiah, was cursed in our place and in so doing, dissolved the curse from our lives so that all the blessings of Abraham can be poured out upon even non-Jewish believers. And now God gives us the promise of the wonderful Holy Spirit who lives within us when we believe in him.”

Did you get the wealth of revelation in that verse? If you did you’re probably dancing in praise. Let me review it pieces by piece in case you missed something.

1. “Christ paid the full price”, means that there is nothing left for us to pay to be free from the law. So many of us subconsciously attempt to be good enough to deserve salvation and Christ’s sacrifice. Think of how foolish it would be if someone purchased a house for you and put your name on the deed, yet every day you worked hard to save sufficient money, so you could pay to ‘deserve’ to be in the house. That’s all foolish feelings or lying emotions. Regardless of how undeserving you feel on any given day, the house is yours. Likewise, regardless of how undeserving you feel you are free because Christ has paid for it and given you freedom.

2. That freedom made us recipients of “…all the blessings of Abraham…” What are those blessings? Genesis 12: 2-3 says,
“I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
I will make your name great;
You shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
I will curse him who curses you;
Through you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Child of God every word above that was spoken to Abraham is spoken to you today. Yes, you deserve it, whether you feel like it or not.

3. When we receive Christ we also receive the “… wonderful Holy Spirit who lives in us.” Let’s look in the Bible at the responsibilities of the promised Holy Spirit.
John 14:26 says,
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
Will teach you all things
And will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
Luke 24:49
“Holy Spirit… fills you with power from heaven.”
Acts 1:8
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
You will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Child of God, I challenge you today to intentionally stop living as mere men and live in the fullness of the knowledge that you are free, abundantly blessed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, who lives in you, to thrive in this life. “Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power” 2 Peter 1:3.
